A very positive review from Edmunds Inside Line
"With 265 miles of EPA-rated range on tap, we're sitting here munching our lunch and admiring the view with a battery that's still more than half full. We'll make it home comfortably the same way we got here — at prevailing freeway speeds, with the A/C on and the stereo thumping."
That's the kind of range assessment we have all been waiting for! :-)
What beautiful photos! Can't wait to get mine!
Super article & pics. Surprised at how consistent the range achieved was in the different trials.
The raves just keep pilin' up ...
Great Hi-Res pix. Edmunds does it right. That CA HOV lane sticker on the rear bumper really adds the finishing touch :|
My wife is still totally shocked that I actually put the HOV stickers on mine. In the 28 years we have been married I have never put any kind of sticker on any car we owned (I really hate them). But even on my short commute I can't pass up the benefit of the commuter lane. Being in that less crowded lane just makes it that much easier to tap into that awe-inspiring performance :-)
"It turns out the suspension tuning and rubber on our test car is a proposed sport package, a work in progress that may or may not see the light of day. It's tuned for glassier roads and drivers who want all-out handling above all else." --- AHA! There was early mention that the tires for this test car were a bit different. This would explain why.
If they introduce a Sport Pkg, I hope they make that available to current Model S owners - please !!!
Did anyone notice the tire and wheel size difference between front and back? I though the standard Model S (un-mod'ed) has the same tire size front and back (245R35). Looks like the testers changed the wheels to allow for wider tires in the rear.
?? See Jason, above. An experimental Sports Package!
Maybe it also has little windmills inside the grill to boost power!
Don't even joke about the windmills!
With the experimental sport package, it seems to be stacking the deck to get better performance. I wonder what the results will be with the normal performance package. I believe the TM website mentioned Continental 245R35 tires on both front and back.
I noticed that in one of their pictures, the full taillight is lit, rather than half as it seems to be on most other day-time shots. The way it looks in this picture is the way I would like it to look.

It's possibly shot with the taillight and the turn indicator/hazard lights on at the same time? Or is it the brake light?
