A while back it was mentioned (in this thread: http://www.teslamotors.com/forum/forums/what-charging-rates-are-people-s...) that a new battery should perhaps be charged to full range the first couple of times in order to condition it. Can anyone provide a reference for that assertion?
I'm noticing that my car is charging at a maximum of 24 miles per hour of charge even though my NEMA 14-50 outlet is delivering pretty much the full 40 amps at 240 volts, and even when I begin charging the battery from a fairly depleted state (started at about 30 miles of range, and checked the charging rate again at about 100 miles of range). I am also ending up with only about 230 miles of range after a standard charge. So I'm wondering whether this is because I've had the car only a few days, and whether it would help to do a couple of full range charges.
I'm about to embark on a road trip, and I'd like to have as much range available as possible, and to have charging times as short as possible.
