After hearing their report I submitted this email:
I am writing to express my disapproval of the manner in which you reported a story this morning. The facts you stated:
1)Elon Musk will not recall the Model S
2)Despite 3 fires, (screen shot shows a Model S in a raging fire), the car will not be recalled.
3)If a federal agency decides differently than Elon Musk could be taken to court to force the CEO to recall.
What is wrong with this story:
1)Presented as if he is being asked to recall but will not.
2)Fires…batteries…Boeing 787…spontaneous. The public will assume the blazing car on their TV screen just caught fire for no reason. No mention of the fact that each and every fire was due to a serious accident. In addition no mention is made to the fact that all occupants walked away from each “SERIOUS ACCIDENT” and also not mentioned “THAT A GASOLINE VEHICLE UNDER SIMILAR CIRCUMSTANCES MIGHT EXPLODE”
3)Assumption that if a federal agency determined reason to recall Elon Musk would not comply but would have to be forced in a court of law.
This company is trying to change the air we breathe. Let’s give them a fighting chance, not preferential treatment, just be fair in how your report a story.
Disappointed in my morning news station I’ve watched for over 20 years.
