I'm still curious about what do you get for navigation (if anything) when you do not get the Tech Package. Has anyone gotten this combination yet?
I'm interested as well. Recently searched on TMC and I get the sense that without the tech package you essentially get the Google Maps on your display. I think you need the tech package to get your location displayed on the map, but I'd like to hear some confirmation from an owner.
The navigation and the automatic door handle extension are the only features of the tech package that are attractive to me and at this point I don't think it's worth the $3K price tag. Ask me again though one day when I'm standing in a cold downpour waiting that extra second for the door handle to pop out.
And no, I don't think Mike and I are related.
I did not get the tech package and have a December 18 - January 1 delivery window. If no one else posts before my delivery, I will check it out and post. Even if the car has a GPS chip (doubtful), the most we can hope for is for the car's current location to be displayed on the Google Map. Anything like TBT nav will require an app. At this point, I don't even know if I will be able to access Google Maps unless Tesla spots us non-Sigs some free data until the data plans are available or the WiFi activation software is released in Q1.

@stevenmaifert--Thanks tremendously for offering to post your experience. You may be the first forum member receiving a car without the Tech package and you can settle once and for all whether location of the car on Google maps is provided without Tech.
@firstname.lastname@example.org - Got the call. Taking delivery December 23.
