I'm in So Cal and I was wondering if any retail locations might have a Model X on display to check out? I do travel a bit and would love to see one in person. Does the factory or corporate location have any on a showroom floor to see? Thanks!
Last one I heard you could see was the prototype at the Hawthorne design center. Although, I think they took that one to Detroit for the Auto show. That was about a month ago so it might be back.
I'm sure they will make beta versions to send to the stores but they have yet to finalize the design of the X so it could be a couple months at least before that happens.
Thanks but unfortunately, it looks like we'll have to wait a few more months until they get final versions completed. Palo Alto said they had one for 3 days but that was only for a promo.
Hopefully it won't be too long.
There's only one wandering around so far, AFAIK.
There was only Model S display at Detroit Auto Show. Model X and Model E were completely absent.
As of Thursday, 01/30/2014, Model X mock up was still residing in Hawthorne Design Studio:
Thanks for the correction Tam. That was last year that it was there wasn't it? ;-)
In January we were trying to decide between the S or the X for purchase. I was ready to drive up to Hawthorn to look at the Tesla model X. Per chance I stopped at the Tesla service center in Costa Mesa and inquired about the Hawthorn showroom. I learned that the model X had been removed as the building hosted the employee Christmas party. I also learned that this was not the final version and that some design changes may occur.
I did place my order for a Tesla model X. I assumed that I would get X updates on design changes, production schedules and any other news items but that has not happened. This has been a disappointment.
I have had my reservation for about a year and a half now, and while I am patient, I was a little disappointed when the most recent shareholder letter indicate that some production prototypes will be on the road by the end of 2014 full production beginning in 2015. I am hopeful that I will have my car by this time in 2015. The silver lining in this information is that there will be production prototypes to look at in fewer than 10 months.
Unless you have a signature reservation a more realistic expectation would be April/May 2015.
