Does anyone have any information on the exact locations of the Texas Superchargers (planed) and timing for when they will open?
Also, has quickly does a P85+ charge at the Tesla Galleries?
Right now there is no exact information on where--just guesses based on the dots on the map. They are supposed to be opening this summer. I'd not count on them before September or October.
If you have elected to have the twin chargers, then the HPWC charges at 60 mph, otherwise 30 mph. Not sure if the Galleries have them though. At the least they will have 14-50 which are 30 mph. The rate of charge (for any Tesla) is based on the on-board chargers and what you plug into (not including Superchargers which bypass the on-board chargers). Charging rates are always approximate.
Austin has HPWC at the gallery and service center. Also, was just at the service center this weekend and the manager mentioned they'll be getting a Supercharger there. No timeframe.
The Galleria in Houston just installed a HPWC in its parking area.
Charged my MS60 at the Austin store (The Domain mall). They had a HPWC and a Roadster charger. The store employees were friendly and guided me back to the spot in the garage. Piece of cake! :-)
I emailed Tesla last week about Texas superchargers and this is what they replied back with:
"Thanks for your email and congratulations on your Model S purchase! While I don’t have specific dates for that exact route opening, I can share that we’re working on a number of Texas sites, opening roughly in late August/ early September. Included in that timeline, we will have a route enabling Dallas through Austin via a planned Supercharger Station in Waco which you can use to complete your trip!"
Keep watching the website late this month and early next month for updates. I am making the trip from Dallas to Austin the second the supercharger is open!
Thanks for the confirmation Garrett, Good to know its getting closer. If you need to get to Austin sooner and you have at least a 60kw, plan a stop in Georgetown. They have several chargers within walking distance of some good restaurants and the town square. One of my favorite restaurants in all of Greater Austin is El Monumento, two blocks from a chargepoint charger. if you can take the drive slow and can schedule a couple of hours to have a long lunch/Dinner its worth it.
It looks like the supercharger is close to opening in San Marcos!
We are excited to announce our first Supercharger location in Texas. This newest addition to the Tesla Supercharger network will open Tuesday, August 20th in San Marcos, TX. To commemorate this important milestone for Tesla and our Texas community, we would like to invite you, your family and your friends to attend the ribbon cutting ceremony and celebrate with us.
Tuesday, August 20th at 10:00am

We will also offer test rides during the event so please feel free to bring anyone that is interested in learning more about Model S and our Supercharging network.
Please reply to this email if you would like to attend and let us know how many guests you will bring. Due to the expected volume of Model S owners, there may be a wait for charging. Please plan accordingly.
Thank you for your continued support. We look forward to seeing you on Tuesday.

The supercharger in San Marcos is operational, just used it today. Five charging bays. Waiting patiently for one between Austin and Dallas. Need it before the big Texas-OU game in Dallas.
Looks like Waco got pulled from the future SC map.. I guess we will have just san Marcus and Hillsboro on 35?
That is fine with me if they can put extra chargers in Hillsboro..
That was Temple that got pulled because the city refused to permit it. Waco was an extra and is still on as far as I know.
The Galleria Charging stations are active. The best way to get to them is to turn right into the parking garage when you are driving down Washington ST. That will put you in LL-Green garage, and the SCs are on the same end of the garage as Washington ST. There is a HPWC, but it is currently limited to 40-Amps, and you only get around 200VAC to the charger (They have limited it since it doesn't have the new fuses for the HPWC). There is a NEMA 14-50 (I have not used it but I assume it will also be 200VAC limited. There is a HP Roadster charger with a Model-S adapter connected. This one is your best bet currently, as it still has the 200 VAC limitation, but will actually source 70-Amps. This one gives you around 40+ miles/Hr of charging.
Yep jerry3, you are correct, Waco it is, I think the Collins Street bakery will be a better location that Hillsboro in any case. Looks like the just have the red dot pushed to far north on the SC map. Got to use the San Marcos SCs twice this weekend, it does really open up the possibilities.
@lammersc...are you talking about the Houston Galleria or the Dallas Galleria?
They should work with bucees locations, that would cover most of Texas
Official email just went out for the Waco opening:

Shoot I'd hoped for closer to the circle as you have a bunch or eating choices there. This looks all by itself:( Not that I hate the Bakery or anything.
The Waco location is unequivocally bad. They've got to place it close to at least one restaurant with extended hours. So basically if you want to charge after 8 pm you've got zero options except walking up the frontage road to a decrepit mini-mart to get a drink, use the bathroom and kill some time. Love the bakery but the place locks up at 8....and 7 pm on Sundays.
Bill, you could just pick something up and go park there for a little while. Its about 100 miles each direction wherever you're going so its not like you'd be there very long anyway.
Does anyone know when the battery swaps will go live, if not already?
They are only planning one test site in California for now. I wouldn't expect swapping to be rolled out in Texas for 5 years if ever. The demo was more proof of concept than actual strategy.
The battery swap was a fun demo, but the only practical use I envision is for apartment/condo dwellers who's landlords/HOAs won't install electrical outlets. I don't expect widespread installations given the costs.
While I would have preferred a better location than Collin Street in Waco, I'll take what I can get !! I think I'm the first user. Was going Dallas to Austin today and called service to check if available before tomorrow's ribbon cutting and they called me back with a request to use a particular bay so engineering could test it. Banging away at 280 mi an hour recharge right now. First time to use a supercharger as a Texas resident. They put in 11 bays so must be preparing for the future.
Nice firsty! Yea I was thinking about going down today but my day got away from me. I'll make a jaunt down I gotta see that 120kw in action:)
Should have short charged for the dallas trip to waco as I only say 192mph charge rate since my P85 was only half empty still very cool but really isolated on its own. Good wifi and restrooms at the bakery but only till 8 as has been observed. A near empty P85 came along and was really pushing the supercharger as it was full fans on both.
Does anyone know the exact locations of the "final" 2 SC's
for Texas? The ones that are supposed to be in, around and/or
on the way to Dallas. Rumor has it that they will be open within
Corsicana and Huntsville are the last 2
Need one on I10 closer to San Antonio so you can go from Houston to San Antonio and back on the same day.
Should be able to make the trip by using the San Marcos charger instead of the Columbus charger either going to or from San Antonio.
Yes doable through San Marcos, but Seguin would be better, near intersection of Toll Road 130.
