This post is to relate my experience with the Costa Mesa Service Center and give big kudos to Lisa and Mark. As with any new car, I understand that there are going to be a couple of little things that go wrong. Add to that a new kind of car and the possibility for glitches increase.
The Tesla Service personnel have been outstanding! My Model S had some moisture intrusion in the charge port that gave me a false "Charge Port Open" reading along with a screeching noise. Last Thursday, I took it to the CM Service Center who quickly identified the problem and ordered a new Charge Port assembly for me. They informed me that I could expect it to come in about two weeks. On Friday night, I began to get several alerts (Traction Control and Regenerative Braking disengaged). I powered it down and restarted the car along with rebooting the dashboard and monitor. That solved the problem for a few minutes, but the alerts came back. I was on my way to a movie, and afterward the car was dead. It wouldn't power up in any way.
As I talked on the phone with the after hours Tesla Service personnel, they tried to wake the car up by remote to no avail. Tesla attempted for several hours to locate a tow truck equipped to "lift and drag" the car the old fashioned way, but all the tow companies near me now have the flat bed style trucks. Tesla arranged to pick up the car the next morning. Lisa, on her day off from her laptop at home, arranged for a rental car at their expense while the repairs were made. (I got a new Infinity G-37. I'm sure it's a nice car for many people, but because my Tesla has turned me into such a car snob, I could only see it's flaws.)
Well, today (Tuesday) I got my Model S back. Mark made a special trip to LA to get a Charge Port since the issues were related. Lisa arranged for a New Car Detail for my car entirely on her own initiative. (My Model S was delivered to me from the factory right off the transport truck at my office on Jan. 2.)
This car is now better than new! It was awesome before, but now it's absolutely stunning! (If you're driving in southern Orange County, CA, the glare you see is the sun reflecting off of my car!)
Thank you to all the service personnel at Tesla! You are top notch and clearly the best I've ever had the pleasure to deal with in any area, not just with cars. A special thanks to Lisa and Mark, who have made my car buying experience the best of my life.
